Chile

Chilean winemaking has its origins in the sixteenth century when Spanish colonisers introduced vines to the region.  Since the 1800s, France –  Bordeaux in particular – has also exerted a powerful influence on the country’s wine, a fact demonstrated by the grape varieties for which Chile is now best known, which include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carménère and Sauvignon Blanc.
