Hawkes Bay

Vines were first planted in Hawke’s Bay in the 1850s by French missionaries, and – like much of New Zealand – French grape varieties still dominate today.  Very fine Bordeaux-style blends, Syrah, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris are all produced in this important region on the east coast of New Zealand’s North Island.
