California

The vast majority of American wine production takes place in the state of California, home to world-renowned regions like Napa Valley and Sonoma County.  Chardonnay is the most widely planted grape in the state followed by Cabernet Sauvignon, though the Californian sun and warmth suit a whole host of varieties.  World’s End winery – founded by Jonathan Maltus who made his name producing acclaimed Bordeaux  – creates some of Napa Valley’s finest reds using classic French varieties such as Cabernet Franc and Merlot.
