Imperial Wine Terms & Conditions



We cannot sell alcohol or tobacco products to anyone under the age of 18. By placing an order with us you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. We reserve the right not to deliver to anyone who is or appears to be under 18 years old.

Placing an order with us is an offer to buy and does not constitute a contract. There will be no contract of any kind until we accept your order, process payment, and despatch the goods to you.


Although we endeavour to ensure that the availability of goods displayed on the website is accurate, occasionally suppliers can run out of stock and errors can occur. We will try to contact you to inform you of any delays or lack of availability. All goods are offered subject to availability. We cannot guarantee the availability of specific vintages and limited edition items.


Orders for goods (to be delivered) may be cancelled within 14 working days of receipt of goods. A full refund will be offered provided the goods remain in good condition and that the request to cancel is received in writing. Any cancelled order will be refunded within 30 days. Please note: Delivery charges are non-refundable.

If the order has been exported, upon cancellation the customer will be liable for all delivery charges incurred, and applicable taxes will also be charged back to the customer. If returned wines are not deemed to be in a saleable condition, a re-delivery fee will also be charged.

Please note: We operate a signature service on all deliveries. 
Goods can be left unsigned for, but you must specify this during checkout, with instructions on where to leave the goods should you be out.

Other Terms

All prices are per bottle of 1 x 75cl bottles or the equivalent in other formats (or per case where indicated).

Wines of pre-1999 in date can be subject to weakening or failure of the corks. Whilst we are meticulous in the selection of our stock, and all bottles (except those in sealed original wooden cases (OWCs)) are carefully inspected before dispatch, we are unable to guarantee the condition of the corks in pre-1999 wines and the risk of failure rests with the purchaser. Allowance should be made for this when selecting such bottles for purchase. We never open OWCs and therefore are unable to accept any liability for ullages and such like with bottles sold in unopened OWCs.

We are always pleased to replace any corked bottles and to accept the return of any wines that you might find are simply not suitable. Please see the note above re pre-1999 wines (for which we are unable to make refunds or replacement) and note that wines returned for credit must be within a reasonable time of their purchase (usually within one month).

Wines offered in bond are subject to delivery, duty and VAT in addition to the price stated. Wines are offered subject to availability. E.& O.E. All wines remain the property of the Imperial Wine Company Limited until full payment has been received.

Payment may be made by cash, cheque (made payable to “The Imperial Wine Company”) or by credit or debit card. We can accept Switch, Visa or Mastercard.

Deliveries are sent on a next day service via courier. This does not mean we will always be able to deliver the next day. We aim to get deliveries out as soon as possible, but obviously wines can go out of stock from time to time. Should the delay be more than a few days we will contact you to advise a delivery estimate. If you need the wine for a particular date, or before a particular date please make sure you mention this in the comments section when placing your order. Actual time of delivery is based upon 9am-5:30pm. All charges are inclusive of VAT. If you are not in when the carrier calls a card will be left with details of how to rearrange your delivery unless you have provided specific instructions for your order to be left somewhere in your absence (eg, with a neighbour).


Although the courier should advise us if there are any breakages, it’s still very important that you let us know ASAP of any stock damage once received so we can investigate with the delivery operator and source replacement wine for you. Please be certain to check the number of parcels you are signing for, we cannot replace wines that have been signed for but not actually received. As you can appreciate to prevent fraudulent damage claims we need to be made aware of damage ASAP this we prefer to be notified via e-mail or phone within 24 hours.


If you receive the wrong wine in your order we will replace the bottle and rebate any delivery costs you incur. We will not refund a purchase because you didn’t like the wine, however if there is bottle damage or your wine is corked please contact us immediately by email to and we will organize a refund. We may request the return of the damaged product before a refund is given so that we can make an assessment as well.
