Western Cape

The majority of South Africa’s vineyards are located in the Western Cape region, where the predominantly Mediterranean-style climate encourages the growth of many different grape varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc, in addition to South African mainstays Pinotage and Chenin Blanc.  It is common for red varieties in particular to be combined to produce Bordeaux-style blends.
