Douro

The Douro Valley in Portugal is famous for producing port, which takes its name from the coastal city of Porto where it was traditionally stored in cellars before export.  This sweet, fortified wine comes in a range of styles, including ruby, tawny, white and Late Bottled Vintage (LVB); vintage ports – made from the best grapes and declared only in years with exceptionally good harvests – can be aged for many decades.
