Notes: The Mönchhof estate in Ürzig is one of the oldest wineries in the Mosel region and its origins can be traced back to 1177 when the Pope granted ownership of Ürzig’s vineyards to Himmerod Abbey. The cellar was built by the monks and it remains to this day. Since 1804 the estate has been owned by the Eymael family and today it produces award-winning Riesling wines from its three prestigious vineyards (Ürziger Würzgarten, Erdener Treppchen and the highly prized Erdener Prälat) on the steep banks of the Moselle river.
